Get your questions answered with life coach certification

I’m going to let you in on a little secret: you don’t need life coach certification to be a life coach. You can go into business for yourself with just a business name, and a few printed cards to get the word out that you are now a life coach. In fact, you may already be a life coach who is self-taught and learned through experience how to get beyond obstacles and to help others do the same. If so, I applaud you. That’s the long road to take, but the best one.

Let me give you an example. Imagine a potential client walking into your physical office, or visiting your website or Fan page. What’s the first thing they want to know? What kind of coach you are, and how you can help them, right?  As part of that instant screening process they also would like to verify that you are good at what you do. In other words, they want to see your credentials.

Obviously, life coach certification goes a long way towards boosting your credibility to a potential client. Years of experience, testimonials, and your personal success stories help, too. But keep in mind that as a society we’re led to believe that a little piece of paper (a degree, a reward, or a certificate) means a lot to a prospective client. Without strong credentials, you can lose a lot of clients before you even get to meet them.

This might seem unfair, but you’re about to realize that life coach certification is far more than a credential. It’s an invaluable learning experience, a resource for transforming your life and those of your clients, and a step-by-step guide to success. I like to think of it as life coaching for the life coach. You get everything you need to transform your clients, your business, and yourself.

That said, you can still be a successful life coach by doing great work and expanding your practice through word of mouth. This is how they did it in “the good old days,” i.e., the snail mail, telephone and neighbor-at-the-fence days before the Internet greatly expanded our ability to tell everyone! This still works; it just takes a lot longer.

3 Things to Look for in a Life Coach Certification program:

  • Techniques. Be sure that you’re learning methods that will bring about real change in your clients and yourself. These include different types of coaching and a strong transformational process.
  •  Understanding. Do you know how to work with clients who self-sabotage? Do you know how to overcome blocks to help clients achieve goals easily? It all begins with understanding the mind and the individual. Make sure you’re learning about body language, the mind, and other tools that allow you to connect with your client in a beneficial way.
  •  Business. Good training isn’t just about life coaching – it’s about how to be a financially successful life coach! You need to know how to sell yourself and attract clients.

Personally, just working with Dr. Craig as an Intern has been a continuous learning process about life coaching, mentorship, and how to be successful in business. It’s a lot like a life coach training program, though more informal. This is why I’m very excited that the Logical Soul® Life Coach Training Program will be released this year. Now you also have the opportunity to gain this invaluable knowledge and become a certified Logical Soul® Life Coach.
